Spirulina Powder 101: Why You Should Try This Microalgae
Spirulina users can enjoy these powdered, green microalgae in smoothies or straight from the jar. In this post, we will provide tips for mixing up the best consistency with water and three additional super easy, and tasty, ways to take Spirulina.
How To Mix Spirulina Powder In Water
The first and simplest way to take Spirulina Powder daily is to mix with water. Nobody likes a clumpy texture, so we are sharing a few tips to get the most enjoyable consistency.
Please note: You can use this method to mix with any other liquid – a favorite of ours is vegetable juice!
Step 1: Measure out the amount you want to consume (usually about 1 teaspoon).
Step 2: Add a small amount of liquid very slowly – just enough that it completely coats the powder. While you're pouring, use a spoon to stir the mixture simultaneously. Using a little warm water (not hot), will help dissolve the Spirulina faster and will not destroy any of the essential nutrients. You can use cold, but warm works a lot better.
Step 3: Once you've poured at least half of the liquid you want to consume, begin stirring more quickly. Don't add the remaining liquid until the mixture has changed color (you’re looking for a deep green color). Make sure there aren't any clumps/granules floating around or stuck to the bottom of the glass.
Step 4: If you used warm water, add ice, make sure it is to your liking, and enjoy!
