Maju’s Chocolate Black Seed Oil Banana Bread Recipe

Prep: 20 minutes
Cook: 60 mins
Total: 1 hour 20 minutes
Yield: 1 loaf (~12 slices)

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups flour

1/4 cup black cocoa powder

3/4 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

2 whole eggs

1/2 cup sugar

1/3 cup equal parts Maju Black Seed Oil and honey, combined

1 1/2 cups mashed bananas (4-5 ripe bananas)

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/4 cup milk of choice + 1 tsp lemon juice or vinegar

3 Tbsp toasted black seeds (optional)

1 Tbsp vanilla extract

Grass-fed butter for serving (optional)

Instructions:

Step 1: Pre-heat oven to 350 F degrees

Step 2: In a bowl, whisk together dry ingredients: flour, black cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

Step 3: In a separate bowl, using a stand mixer or hand beater to combine eggs and sugar until light. Slowly add in the Black Seed Oil and honey mixture until all ingredients are well combined.

Step 4: Mash bananas with a fork until smooth. Add mashed bananas, oil, milk, and vanilla extract to the bowl with the other wet ingredients and mix until well combined.

Step 5: Slowly add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients bowl in three to four portions, mixing in between each addition. Once the batter is blended, you can optionally add in 2 Tbsp black seeds and mix until fully incorporated.

Step 6: Grease a 9″x5″ metal baking pan.

Step 7: Pour batter into pan, top with remaining 1 Tbsp sesame seeds (optional).

Step 8: Bake on center oven rack 60-70 minutes until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.

Step 9: Let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes and then transfer to a cooling rack for an additional 10 minutes.

Step 10: Slice and enjoy!

Pro Tip: Tastes the best warm! Serve right from the oven with a dab of grass fed butter and re-heat any leftovers for the best experience!
